Tell me what is it that you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? – Mary Oliver
My Approach
As a psychotherapist, my aim is to support you in making sense of your particular patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Throughout life we acquire survival strategies to cope with difficult experiences and to protect against painful emotions. However, over time, many of the very strategies which protected us, can become restrictive or get in the way of living a full and fulfilling life.
My style is collaborative, non-judgmental, and reflective. I will be curious with you about the ways your past history informs your present relationships, life satisfaction, and sense of self. I will listen closely and carefully to help you bring greater awareness to your inner world and the ways in which your deepest feelings shape your current life experiences.
In the therapeutic relationship, we are able to observe our reflexive ways of thinking and relating more vividly and clearly. Together we have the opportunity to honor our intuitive resilience while creating the conditions for change. I work from a psychodynamic framework—this means that the working relationship between client and practitioner can be used as the grounds for self-discovery and growth.
Although, therapy can be painful at times, it also offers us the rich opportunity to know more about our whole, complex, and evolving selves. Therapy can help us build healthy and satisfying relationships, expand our creativity, and strengthen our internal resilience towards life’s inevitable losses and challenges. I welcome the opportunity to partner with you on this very important journey.
